Teignmouth Road, TEIGNMOUTH, TQ14 8UT, England
Boasting spectacular views over Labrador Bay on the Devonshire Coast, this exclusive thatched cottage, dating back to the 1820’s, offers 3 stylish, individually decorated rooms in Teignmouth.

A coastal landmark for the past 200 years, Minadab Cottage provides an ideal retreat for those wanting to escape the stresses of city life. Despite its tranquil position, the cottage is within easy reach of Exeter, (9 miles), Torquay and Newton Abbott (5 miles), and Dartmoor (6 miles).

The original cottage is said to have been built in the shape of a boat, with rooms fore and aft and a rope ladder joining the ground floor to the upper deck - now replaced with modern stairs. Today it has been transformed into a delightful B&B by the current owners, Trevor and Tina Smee.

Unfortunately, due to the rooms available, Minadab Cottage is unable to accommodate very young children.

The cottage was originally built as a home for Robert Young in the early 19th century. Young rose to the rank of Commander in the Royal Navy and, according to O'Brynes naval directory (1849), he served with distinction at The Battle of Trafalgar. He was honoured with the task of carrying the successful news of victory back to the Admiralty in London by Lord Nelson himself.

It is said that a secret tunnel runs from the cobbled wine cellar to the beach. Legend has it that it was used by a previous owner who unexpectedly returned from sea to catch his wife with her lover!
